My Lightfoot Life – Jade Smerdon, Fleet Account Manager

What is your job title?

Fleet Account Manager

What does your job involve?

I look after all the clients, make sure they’re happy with the product, sort out issues, take on board what they want from us. In a nutshell: I make sure our fleet clients are happy and if they’re not, I find out why and sort it!

What’s your favourite thing about it?

Seeing how much clients like Lightfoot, as corny as it sounds. Just seeing how happy they are and when issues do come up, I love solving problems.

What are you working on right now?

I am running a report for a manager of a certain area to find out his 10 lowest-scoring drivers over the last 2 months, so he can see if they need some more training from us.

How long have you worked for Lightfoot?

10 months now. In here, 10 months is a long time! When I first started Tom would say to me “Back when I started, it was so small” … Now I’m that person!

Why Lightfoot?

The buzz, the family feel, how quickly it’s growing. Just how lovely and fun and exciting Lightfoot is.

Tell us about your home life?

At the moment I’m in the process of buying my second house and also getting married – so all the stressful stuff at once. I don’t really have a life at the moment!

Why Devon? What’s your favourite thing about it?

Through all the years of travelling for work, I don’t think I’ve found a prettier area than Devon. I love it. I love being able to see the sea and see the moors in one view on a daily basis.

What do you do when not at work?

If I get time away from the house and wedding, I try to get out with my dog and see my brother’s farm in Ipplepen. I’m a farmer’s daughter, so it’s in my blood. I’m also a keen sailor so try to get out on the water a lot.

Tell us something we don’t know about you

I used to sail for the South of England – I would sail all around the country, but then I had to grow up and get a job, so had to give it a little less time. My personal highlight was being in the first run of the 2012 Olympic squad!

I also taught it, including to adults and children with learning difficulties one summer, so I’m a fully-qualified instructor if anyone wants some lessons.

What car do you drive?

Suzuki Ignis

Do you have a favourite drive?

From here to Perranporth – again, having the sea on one side and moors on the other is just perfect.

I should have said my drive to work, shouldn’t I? Or would that be too much?

If you could go anywhere, where would it be?

Turkey – Hisarönü every time, without a doubt. It’s my second home.

Do you have any words to live by?

Reach for the stars so you can land on the moon. And always have fun!
