Working from 10 permanent locations across the UK, Comex 2000 provides end-to-end services at a national level, with its 700 vans travelling to and from sites throughout the country. Cutting back on carbon
Comex 2000 is committed to understanding, managing, and minimising its impact on both the local and global environment, with policies in place to monitor and reduce its current emissions output. This has allowed the company to set carbon reduction targets across all areas of the business, meaning it’s now able to keep customers updated on its progress and share the latest results on the road to net zero.
Of course, with a fleet of 700 vehicles, this represents a significant portion of the company’s CO2 production – and this is why Lightfoot has been such a game-changer for the Comex 2000 fleet.
As a business, Comex are keen adopters of pioneering technology that can provide training and development opportunities to their employees, so Lightfoot’s fleet management system seemed like an obvious choice.
Through coaching drivers to drive in a style that is safer, smoother, and less fuel-hungry, Lightfoot has helped the telecoms company to reduce carbon emissions by over 8%. This means that over the next 5 years, Comex 2000 is on track to prevent more than 2756 tonnes of carbon emissions from entering the atmosphere.
To put this into context, that’s the same amount of CO2 that would be created by boiling 107.5 million kettles, absorbed by a forest of 131,000 trees, or saved by converting 330 vehicles to EVs.
All in all, it’s a big win for Comex 2000’s sustainability goals and an even bigger win for the environment.
Positive change across the fleet
Lightfoot’s in-cab driver coaching technology has made a real difference to the Comex 2000 fleet, with the number of drivers reaching the Elite Driver target – i.e. achieving a cleaner, greener driving style at least 80% of the time – rising from just 40% of the fleet to an incredible 89% of drivers.
As a result, fuel consumption has gone down, with the business seeing an 8.3% improvement in MPG and a 7% reduction in engine idling since rolling out Lightfoot across its vans. Over the next 5 years, the Comex 2000 fleet can expect to save more than 1 million litres of fuel by following the guidance of its Lightfoot devices.
A major part of this is the incentivisation and rewards offered through the Lightfoot app, with drivers able to enter weekly prize giveaways and participate in competitive league tables. This encourages drivers to follow the feedback they receive from their Lightfoot device and engage with the app, leading to greater savings through smoother driving. Comex 2000 have taken this even further, setting up departmental and depot leagues within the fleet with Amazon vouchers as prizes, helping to further enhance engagement and positive competition.
Commenting on the experience so far, fleet manager Raman Nevile had this to say:

The change has been significant and positive, transforming the relationship between the driver and their vehicle. It has dramatically improved driving styles across our business and has cut fuel-sapping and environmentally damaging harsh acceleration habits by 56%. Our drivers feel more included and are making a positive difference.”
